If there's one thing that can be said about Mighty Ape customers, it's that
you guys have the most diverse music taste ever!
We figured the only way to be fair about this was to sit down and listen to
every
track you guys suggested.
There were some classics, some up and comers, and some truly obscure! At the
end of it all there were many songs being hummed around Mighty Ape HQ!
Of course there was one that was hummed more than the rest…

Well folks, The wait is almost over!
After releasing a brief teaser last week, The Foo Fighters have
officially announced the release of their HUGELY anticipated 8th studio
album. The album, titled Sonic
Highways is due to release worldwide on the 10th of
November!
Though not a soundtrack album by any stretch, Sonic
Highways shares its title with the Dave Grohl-directed eight-episode HBO
series described by Grohl as a love letter to the history of American music. For
the album and series, Grohl, Taylor Hawkins, Nate Mendel, Chris Shiflett and Pat
Smear wrote and recorded one song in each of these eight cities, delving into
the local musical currents: how each region shaped these musicians in their
formative years, and in turn the impact those people had on the cultural fabric
of their hometowns.

A ‘Must Listen’ for all Shihad Fans
Few Kiwi bands have had the staying power of homegrown legends Shihad. I still fondly
remember my first time seeing John Toogood and the band play together over
10 years ago and being absolutely blown away. My love for the band started that
day and I can honestly say, they've been a staple in my music listening
ever since.
As you can probably imagine my excitement levels got buzzing with the
announcement of FVEY, one of the last
projects to be recorded at Auckland’s famed York St Studio and the very last
to be produced by Killing Joke front man Jaz Coleman. With the release of the
hard hitting first single “Think You're So Free” my anticipation went into
hyper-drive. It's been a long wait but FVEY is finally here!

We've got two tickets to the Joe Bonamassa
concert in Auckland on September 12th for one very lucky customer!
To enter the draw, all you need to do is purchase one of his many stellar
albums throughout August. Every album purchased gives you
an entry in the draw to win two tickets to his first-ever
appearance in New Zealand on September 12, 2014 featuring two entirely new and
exciting band line-ups. The first set will feature Bonamassa alongside a world
music acoustic band, and will then shift into electric mode for the second half
of the show featuring his regular touring band.
Bonamassa
was opening for B.B. King when he was only eight years old and was a veteran of
the road and gigging by the time he was 12, so it's tempting to toss him in the
all flash but no soul prodigy trash bin that has been filling up pretty well
since Stevie Ray Vaughan shuffled off to blues heaven – but that would be a
big mistake. Bonamassa has soul, plenty of it, and he plays guitar with a
reverent grace, and sometimes lost in all this is that he's a pretty good
singer, too, sounding more than a little bit like a reconstituted Paul Rodgers.
One thing's for sure though, the man makes sweet music magic whenever he
touches a guitar.
What are you waiting for? Swing by and order one of Joe
Bonamassas' albums today for the chance to see him play
first hand!
