Office Chair Mat - Large reviews

Before un-rolling the mat, I've left it under direct sunlight for an hour, and – voila! – the task was solved. So, you don't need to be The Hulk or Arnie: the Sun is much mightier.

Well made and durable mat only issue I had with it was, it was nearly impossible to unroll ! Even Superman and The hulk combined would struggle to unroll this mat. I almost gave up and was about to send it back. 2 of us struggled relentlessly to unroll then find something very heavy to hold it down so we could get it compleatly unrolled.

As others have said, it arrives rolled up and it really does not want to be unrolled! I managed to wrestle mine flat and left it in the sun for an hour or so, and it has been great since. Very durable, probably better than I expected. It does like to creep its way under my desk, so I need to yank it back out every week or so, but its no big deal.

Good protection for the existing carpet, with short tags which won't damage the carpet and underlay, I am using a heavy chair.

I received a plain rectangle chairmat they don't even have advertised, or what I wanted.

One thing that was slightly frustrating was that it was quite difficult to unfurl. Probably spent a lot of time stored rolled up.

Bought two of these for the home office. Tough to roll out, but left in the sun and pinning down the corners helped. However, they offgas something terrible and just fill the room with a chemical/plastic smell, even after being left out in the rain and scrubbed down afterwards. Might end up trying to get a refund as these are currently unworkable.

Very thick, really good quality Did take some pretty heavy items and about a week before it flattened out. But will be getting another 4 sure. Highly recommended

The picture of the product shows a perfectly flat mat. This is an illusion. The mat arrives tightly rolled in a square section cardboard tube. (Points for sustainable packaging, Mighty Ape!) Another reviewer said the mat had a strong odour – mine didn't. However, like everyone else's, it was extremely difficult to unroll, and even when unrolled and placed, was not flat – to this day there are corrugations running the width of the thing. Being close on 100kg of overweight human, I did not expect the mat to not get dents in it where my computer chair's castors rested, but I did expect it to stay in one place on the carpeted floor – that, after all, is what one wants it for. Mine doesn't – I expect this is because it's not flat so only some of the sticky-out bits on the underside are engaging with the (worn but not threadbare) fibre of the carpet. It just fulfills the purpose of protecting the carpet, but whoever designed this product needs their head read. It would have been far more serviceable and user friendly if it had come in the form of smaller FLAT panels that hinge or snap together.

The product itself doesn't have any problem so far but since it's been in the package for long enough, shaping it into a roll that is impossible to set up......

Bought large size as I move my chair a lot which minces the carpet. I was looking for something thick to protect the carpet and this does it. Others have pointed out it is hard to unroll. My trick was to open it up a little, say a foot. Lay it on carpet (spike side down) then place your knee on it and unroll until you can sit on it, and continue, like wrestling an alligator. It will eventually comply! Once unrolled, it is great!

The plastic smell was gone after the hot shower. Awesomeness. Working pretty good with the big office chair.

Be prepared for the battle of your life unrolling this. Arrived rolled up which is fair enough, but given its hard plastic, it would not unroll for ages. I used heavy chairs, heat gun, etc. Finally got it somewhat flat but the edges never went flat. Ended up returning it.

Got it on special for $59, and it was a steal. This is very thick, proper commercial quality, very happy with it. Yes unrolling it is difficult, and it may take time to settle completely flat but as the previous reviewer suggested you can hurry that process by heating it up in the sun (or use a heatgun / hair drier).

When I received the product it was about 9 in the morning and after opening the box it became very clear it was going to be a problem to try unroll the mat. I decided to leave it out in the sun for 6 hours which loosened up the material so I could un roll it. After using it for a couple days it's very noticeable that it is very easy to dent the product of you sit in it the chair for more than an hour and I don't think the product will last very long…
