Smart Ape 7L Desiccant Dehumidifier reviews

This is a really up-to-date dehumidifier at a great price. There are two types of dehumidifier: the compressor type and the desiccant type. This is the desiccant type, which is good for a Hawke's Bay winter where the side effect, a bit of heating, is welcome. Perhaps if your goal is to dehumidify a hot muggy room in summer in eg Whangarei then a compressor type would be more suitable.

This one connects to WiFi, can be controlled from our phones, or just by pressing the buttons on top, can be plumbed in or just emptied manually, is reasonably quiet, and prevents “crying windows” throughout the flat. It also has a mode for drying clothes in which it absolutely blasts. It looks reasonably good, certainly better than the nineties-office style desiccant offering we saw at Mitre 10.

After a couple of months, no complaints at all. Recommend.

This dehumidifier works a treat! Have a sleepout and run it in there and its quite amazing how much moisture it takes. Looks great and performs really well. Can be operated from an app on your phone to switch on and off which is great. Easy to operate and empty.

The smart handsfree voice operation via Alexa is my favourite. Does the job to dehumidify and good with drying clothes in a single bed room size. The fan sound to my surprise is quieter than Dyson Air. I would recommend this for people with small rooms and doesn’t mind a dehumidifier that warms up the room.

This desiccant dehumidifier is very inefficient. I ran it side by side with another desiccant dehumidifier of the same power consumption and it extracted about half the volume of water that the other one did.

The Phone control is ok, a few more advanced features would have been nice, like a timer for on based on humidity, but my main complaint is how flimsy it feels and the dust flap just looks like it is going to break when a child or the likes leans on it.
